The Artist
Samways is an off-the-beaten-path poet and cloud watcher. She enjoys painting in leisure and hiking at length. Samways teaches meditation and imagines running her own traveling café-bookshop. Princess in disguise.
The Escapee
Samways’ employment and education background is in change leadership, management, sales, non-profit, project management, public relations, sales, marketing, and communications.
She specializes in solving problems, escaping convention, and creating the causes for happiness. Having abandoned a traditional lifestyle, she is able to further develop her creative skills and demonstrate virtuous action in all facets of life.
The Name
Kaitlyn holds Celtic and Greek heritage and means “pure.” Samways translates to “semi-wise.” She is The Pure Halfwit by birthright.
But don’t be fooled by the epithet.
The Peacock Feather
In Buddhism, the Peacock is considered an auspicious bird for it thrives on plants and berries that would typically be poisonous to other birds. Just as peacocks live off toxic plants, so can a Buddhist practitioner thrive on adverse events by transforming them with Buddha’s teachings. This has been my practice since Winter of 2016 when I started General Program Meditation Classes with Samudra Kadampa Buddhist Centre.
I can honestly say, I changed my life by changing my mind. From an anxiety-ridden mind fearful of the future, I created a resilient, positive, calm mind that gets better every day. Like a Jedi in training, I turned away from anger and now seek peace daily. I am now committed to seeing clearly.
