Late October

I love hearing the trees talk
sometimes the high branches speak
            and the low branches listen
sometimes the east whispers to the west                  which gives silence in response
sometimes they all chatter at once
I lie in the sun, watching, listening

I dread the coming winter’s quiet
        absent leafy voices,
              instead violent creaks
disturb the silence,   as do
              small explosions,
breaking branches, piercing snow
        crunching, snapping
              deadened, hollowed,
                     muffled, no water flows
I wish that it would not come soon
but winter’s here in just one moon

poor man’s metaphor

(Note: read best aloud in James Donald Forbes McCann‘s accent & cadence – sorry if that’s appropriation)

     tonight,
a bird without song
         landed on my chest
heavy
         a big bird
     maybe a childhood wound
yellowed, tarred, and feathered with age
       the point is,
       there was no song!
let’s not get caught up in the details

I’m sad!!!!

        and still,
     it’s all a dream
           it’s just a dream
                & I dream I am free

I’m happy!!

Thirsty for Nature | V2

what need have I
for touch of yours
when ‘cross my skin
this water pours

absorbed in icy creek
or embraced by steamy tub
I don’t miss your hands
when sultry bubbles rub

breezy leaves float gently down
to lucious forest floor below
to the music of nature, sensuous sound
I meditate and let my wisdom grow

My Mask Slips | FF 8

I have begun to forget my mask

I have started longing to be open about my dissent
from new normal

I am not a pawn to progress political agendas
and power struggles

Just a person longing for the rights & freedoms &
peace of her parents

Was divorce a prediction of politicians’
same social strategies?

Yelling, arguing toward dominion
never peace

If we remove the masks we hide behind &
relent our ruthless blaming

Can we find another way,
more loving, to behave?
