Pandora’s Box

I’ve come across you
twice before

and each time

I opened you!

Alas, even
the second time
I knew!

To tell you
the truth…

I would do it again.

It is said,
we run straight
to the causes
of our suffering

My experience
could be proof

Though I may act
quite aloof
(or at times a goof)

I am burning with
desire inside
egotistical pride

seven sins wrapped
up tight

in the unforgetting world
it is difficult
to let go of attachment

So faced with the choice
once more – to open
or leave closed
hell’s wicked door

I swing it wide
and hop the hearth
to the other side

to tell you the truth…
I’m just exhausting
negative karma

bringing about
the end of these
tiresome cycles

how ’bout you help?

Tell me the truth…
would you open the box?

Out of my League | WR Issue 6

Looking for a way to judge if your crush is worth upgrading? Looking for a way to analytically rule your heart with your mind? No?

I’m here to help anyway!

Throwback to one of my favourite shows, The League – good ol’ programming just not fit for today’s climate. (If you don’t know the show, look it up for reference):

In episode two of season four, Pete introduces his fantasy football draft “system” – then he explains how it applies to women too. Giving them plus or minuses for different attributes (ex. beauty +2; gets up early, big -1; already taken -2) to help him decide if he needs to …pick up a different player from the waiver wire.

When Pete finds out his old friend Sutton becomes single – ergo on the waiver wire – he decides to try and pick her up. She certainly has the attributes he’s looking for. Little does he know, Sutton has a system of her own – and Pete is running against Taco. Check out the episode. It’s great.

Inspired by this clearly flawless logic, I decided to make my own version of Pete’s system by designing the Ideal Lover Scoresheet – and then I decided to make it available to you! (If for a laugh ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

[Example Scoresheet]

Of course, this is an example scoresheet. Yours may look much, much different. For example, on mine I’ve added “likes Lord of the Rings” in the “Nice-to-Have” category (+2).

Choosing Happiness | FF 6

The people I know that are the happiest are those that take life in stride and make productive choices no matter what’s going on. They benefit more as they show up for other people and their own self.

These people do not gossip and rarely blame others for anything. They understand that it is healthier to learn from people’s mistakes rather than waste time feeding the feelings of resentment or hate that may naturally arise.

They do not publicly share “poor me” or “why me?” attitudes. Perhaps that is because they understand how to transform even adverse events so they can perceive everything as always working out in their best interest.

What a wonderful way to live!

I wish everyone who is struggling develops the capacity to build and practice this type of outlook.

I understand, from personal experience, even if you are facing mental health problems, you still have more control over your mind than you realize. But you must take that control and practice good mental habits. Or you will forfeit control of your mind to someone else – whether that’s family, government, or the myriad of capitalist interests on social media.

Keep control of yourself. Keep your cool.

Choose happiness.
