secured, or

so fixed
      that it must be broken
a lingering autumn leaf
dances in the early spring breeze
across heavy wet snow
I do not move like the detritus
I am weighty as the H2O
      taking its restrictive form
I am rigid, taught
      hyper and attentive, tense
so unmoving
      that it is demanded
I should jostle, jive, and bend
      so unnerving is the stillness
it is begged that it should end
      fractured to fix
set fast so as to slow
      unseen fantasies
that have set my world aglow
      at last I’m untethered
by lives not bettered
      with no grasp at destiny
who could deny the lineage of events
      this moment depends upon!
how could we give up
      unfixing the withdrawn
and with intention create
      causes lacking such hesitation
